Michael Blench is currently the Technical Advisor and Project Development Coordinator for the Global Public Health Intelligence Network (GPHIN - pronounced: ‘gee-fin’) which resides within the Public Health Agency of Canada’s (PHAC) Centre for Emergency Preparedness and Response (CEPR). GPHIN uses Machine Translation in nine languages (currently) to provide trans-lingual text mining of unstructured text.
Michael is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston with a Baccalaureate in Economics and Commerce and the University of Ottawa with a Masters of Science in Human Kinetics. He has over 30 years of Information Management / Information Technology experience obtained from work experience with DND, RCMP, Canada Post, private consulting, Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada and abroad.
His professional interests are in man-machine interfacing and non-traditional computing.
